Description:
The story of The Runaways an all girl rock band in the 1970’s goes into the history of the creation and destruction of the group. Joan (Kristen Stewart) meets producer Kim Fowley (Michael Shannon) in a club and tells him she wants to start an all girl rock band, Kim finds the idea intriguing and introduces Joan to Sandy (Stella Maeve), a drummer the girls start jamming and decide to hold auditions for a blonde lead singer, Cherie (Dakota Fanning) auditions and after singing for the girls is added to the group. The girls travel to their first gig and are an instant hit, signed by Mercury Records and start recording an album. Cherie’s world is turned upside down as her quick fame introduces her to new worlds filled with drugs and alcohol, Cherie quits the band, but Joan continues to play music starting the now famous Joan Jett and the Blackhearts.
